PRACS-Cetero Research dermatological symposium brings together researchers to exchange updates
Fargo, North Dakota (October 30, 2006) — PRACS-Cetero Research hosted a successful symposium highlighting dermatological research advances during the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) Annual Meeting in San Antonio, Texas. PRACS–Cetero’s Executive Medical Director, Tom Franz, MD, moderated the event focused on pre-clinical dermatology, transdermal delivery systems, and overall product development trends. Those in attendance included R&D leaders from innovator, generic and drug delivery pharmaceutical companies.
Topics and presenters included: “In-vitro Percutaneous Absorption in the Critical Path of Drug Development” Sam Raney, Ph.D., PRACS – Cetero
“Current Trends for in-vivo Testing of Transdermal Delivery System” Russ Rackley, Ph.D., Mylan Laboratories
“Optimizing Product Development Planning” Chuck Bon, Biostudy Solutions LLC
Dr. Raney illustrated how the FDA’s January 2006 “Critical Path Initiative” could be applied to dermatological drug R&D to provide early insight into the performance of a compound. He highlighted how the industry needs to identify pre-clinical trial practices that will aide in the success factor of new compounds under development.
Dr. Rackley discussed the impact of the withdrawn FDA Guidance on “Skin Irritation and Sensitization Testing of Generic Transdermal Drug Products” on future dermatological development. And to conclude the symposium, Mr. Bon presented how statistics can be used in successful project planning.
Located in Fargo, ND, PRACS-Cetero Research is the premier provider of pre-clinical and clinical dermatology testing.
