South County expansion scheduled to significantly increase Gateway Medical Research’s recruiting efforts
St. Charles , Missouri (October 16, 2006) — Gateway Medical Research recently opened a remote screening site in the South County area. This expansion is the most recent endeavor by Gateway Medical Research to support the increasing demand for pharmaceutical clinical research trials.
Due to the increased demand for our capacity which hosts 10 spacious clinics and has the capability to house 520 study participants, Gateway Medical Research deemed it appropriate to seek out an additional screening location in the metropolitan area. The South County screening center had been planned for 2006 since the opening of the state-of-the-art, 105,000 square foot clinical site in St. Charles in September 2005. After six months of careful planning and renovation, the center opened on October 16, 2006.
Located 24 miles south of Gateway Medical Research's clinical site, the South County screening center is based in the heart of the second largest growing region in the St. Louis metropolitan area. Accessible by multiple interstates, this location is adjacent to a large potential participant population, including those from the Chrysler Assembly Plant, three area Universities, and several Community Colleges. Currently, the South County location is operating three days per week, with a plan to gradually increase their hours to be open five days per week, including evenings, by early 2007.
“We are very excited about this South County screening center. The St. Louis southern metropolitan area contains an ideal population demographic. Already, our presence in South County has attracted new volunteers who have not been exposed to Gateway Medical Research. Plus, this location allows people to be screened closer to their homes, which is definitely an advantage for most participants in South County . We are expecting a significant increase in our recruiting and screening efforts and a broadening of our base participant population because of this location,” said Daniel Shipley, Founder and President of Gateway Medical Research.
Gateway Medical Research now has three screening centers including the main facility in St. Charles . The South County screening center is one of two remote locations Gateway Medical Research has in the St. Louis and surrounding metropolitan areas. Additionally, they have an Edwardsville, Illinois screening center located directly on the Southern Illinois University campus.
Gateway Medical Research, a Cetero Research company, is a clinical research site specializing in the testing of pharmaceuticals.
