About East Grand Forks
East Grand Forks is located in the heart of the ‘Red River Valley of the North’. The Midwest ‘Grand Cities’ of Grand Forks, North Dakota and East Grand Forks, Minnesota border the Red River. In the 1800’s, East Grand Forks was a major trade and ‘Red River cart’ transportation center between Canadian fur companies of Winnipeg and grain and dry goods supply companies of St. Paul, Minnesota.

The Arnold Palmer Signature Golf Course is a PGA rated golf course established in 1999. There are a variety of golf courses in the area

Cabela's is a great shopping spot for the outdoorsman. Located one block from PRACS, Cabela’s is considered the ‘world’s foremost outfitter.” This huge sporting goods store offers an extensive collection of hunting, fishing, and outdoor gear. The indoor store displays include a mountain scene with wildlife mounts as well as oversized aquariums with a sampling of regional water game.

Heritage Village preserves the history of the Red River Valley with weekend tours of pioneer buildings representing upper Midwest the life in the mid to late 1800’s and early 1900’s.

Myra Museum and Campbell House features cultural and ethnic displays including Scandinavian artifiacts. The Campbell House is dedicated to pioneer women and features a one-room schoolhouse, carriage house, and the city’s original log post office.

Turtle River State Park is an excellent place to picnic, read, hike, or just relax! In the summer months, the park offers nature trails, fishing, picnic areas, and camping facilities. In the winter months you can take part in cross-country skiing, sledding, or skating.

HEALTHCARE
The Grand cities metropolitan area offers an excellent physician base represented by Altru Health Systems hospital and clinics, Meritcare Clinic, and an independent physician network. Altru Health Systems is composed of a 277-bed facility with over 200 physicians and allied health professionals representing over 95 medical specialties.

CLIMATE
Winter is winter. Although there is a perception we have lots of cold and snow in the winter months, in reality, this semi-arid area offers a crisp, dry cold with an unimpressive snowfall for the snow enthusiast. Typical temperatures in the winter range from below 0 to 20 degrees Fahrenheit with an average snowfall of 36 inches per season. January will offer the most formidable temperature.

Spring is usually warm and sunny with temperatures ranging from 43-67 degrees Fahrenheit. The temperature is around 70 degrees by mid April.

Summer is best described with pleasingly comfortable temperatures ranging from 55-85 degrees Fahrenheit that provide warm comfortable days and cool evenings which require little, if any, air conditioning. Our semi-arid climate is very comfortable and quite pleasant with only a few days of high heat or humidity in August.

Autumn is delightfully crisp and cool with temperatures usually in the range of 45-70 degrees Fahrenheit. For autumn lovers, the time of peak leaf color is usually the first week of October.

The Hilton Garden Inn is located at the interstate interchange off Demers Ave. in Grand Forks. (Note: the Grand Forks airport road is Gateway Drive (hwy 2), one interchange north of the Hilton) The PRACS clinic is about 10 minutes east on Demers, across the Red River in East Grand Forks. Amenities include business class room accommodations, a business center with high speed internet access in each room, restaurant, lounge, exercise facility, swimming pool and convention space. The Hilton Garden Inn is attached to the University of North Dakota Rural Technology Center and convention space.
